Easter was again good time to travel countryside for DX'ing. As usually, besides of catching new stations, this was a moment to check recordings and organize things, preparing for example for the new FM-season. I also checked several hours of these recordings what I have made during last 5 years, mostly there is no surprises anymore. Now there are less than 50 C-cassettes under checking, when starting the project last christmas; they were very numerous, probably over 70. Little by little the recording archive will be fully organized.
This time I found a nice clip of DRS Musigwälle 531 kHz, already silent on MW. It has verified but still nice to have a 5 minutes recording of it's programme, as a souvenir. Aswell I checked old FM-recordings where found surprisingly Bacau regional of Radio Trinitas with ID "En Bacau ascultate Radio Trinitas Nouazecsase virgola opt, nurazul Bacau optzeciopt virgola patru.." The first frequency is for Bacau and another for Onesti, both in Bacau region. Seems to be regional for sure. However it's hard to say what was the frequency, while recording this one, I was smoking outside and left recording for empty frequency. I never knew that there was anything, probably only white noise. However there faded in a romanian station giving a nice ID. This is not the first time to hear something interesting with not really listening at the moment. Once I got Radio Fiat with same method from Poland, but it has luckily only one frequency. Once while smoking again, I got BRF 89.0 from Belgium with 400 watts. That time I came back and found surprisingly oh there is something on the recording. And once sleeping and having siesta Prague's local Radio Expres come with nice commercial spot. These are kinda nice catches! It's said it's need to have professional antennas and receivers and a lot of work. Well for sure, but if I got with whip antenna and unprofessional receivers that amount of stations, also good ones, and not only network stations, I could never manage to solve every clip and station heard with 8-el yagi and Sony XDR... There must be too much recordings then!
Aswell I found an old recording, made August 5, 2005 during the conditions when Eastern and Middle European stations were widely heard in Finland. I caught hungarian talk on 88.4 MHz for a minute, this is what the conditions normally are in Central Part, while South-West Finland is having band full of stuff till 108MHz. It's said something like "Balaton Enis Radio" and soon after that "Szoltoko Radio". After these clues station got Irene Cara's What A Feeling on air and faded away. Nice but these names do not exist. Only listed stations are Slager and Nyugat, which was on air since Oct 15, 2005. Balaton has been only on 88.2.
There was aswell a local DX-meeting in Jyväskylä with 7 collegues participating to it. It was kinda nice meeting after a long break to me. And nice to see that local DX organisations are still living under umbrella FDXA.
About my equipment this moment
for FM-DX Technics ST-Z45 with quad built by myself, one element(!), Philips AZ1518 CD-cassette -recorder, excellent for rare station hunting and Fisher PH403 with analog frequencies, both of them have whip only.
for MW/SWDX Icom IC-R71E with ground and balun for 25mtrs long antenna. For next season have to build longer and bigger, when having 375mtrs I also heard something interesting but it was broken by wind.
for fun Tecsun PL-310 with DSP, Grundig YB 208, AS multiband radio (kind of cheap scanner for 54-176MHz) and Fintec (no model number in memory)
for broken moments =) Sangean ATS-909 often used with FM-dipol, Philips Autoilona (1960's car receiver) and Yamaha TX-330. All of these are working, but not properly.
